How I work

My approach to therapy is strength-based, collaborative and holistic.  I strive to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship that will allow for an inner exploration of the difficulties that bring you to therapy.  I tend to incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques into my work meaning that throughout therapy, I help clients address the negative thoughts and behavioral patterns that keep psychological and relational difficulties in play.  My goal is to help clients build upon their inner strengths to cultivate good coping skills and develop confidence in their own abilities to make positive changes to their thinking, emotions and behaviors.

In addition to working on a conscious level, I use hypnosis to bridge our work together to the subconscious mind.  Hypnosis is a trance state of deep calm coupled with heightened awareness and focus.  By quieting the conscious mind—the part of us that can be resistant to change—we are able to learn more quickly to build new habits by practicing creating the feelings and behavioral changes that we want to experience in our lives.

As a California or Washington resident, therapy can come to you.

How does online therapy work? Sessions take place via a HIPAA-secure platform, much like Skype or Zoom.  Prior to your appointment, a private link will be sent to your email.  At the scheduled time, simply click the link to enter our virtual therapy room.  Sessions are 50 minutes and available weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly according to your needs and goals.
